Ombre Hair by Falisha K at Top Notch Salon (An Aveda Concept Salon) in Mission Viejo
I was so excited to debut my new ombré hair by hairstylist Falisha K at Aveda Concept Salon, Top Notch Salon in Mission Viejo, CA last week; and just in time for some fashionable appearances and events (which I can't wait to share with you). Back to the hair; I've known Falisha since college (sorority sisters!), and I was so thrilled when she reached out to me to do my hair. Remember when I had chopped off my hair back in December? Which was a big change for me, so since I had settled into the new hair length, I started to think how I wanted to ombré it; and I've seen Falisha's work and she's seriously SO talented AND passionate about what she does; therefore, naturally, I said YES, let's do my hair.
I arrived on a week day around 1pm and Falisha immediately greeted me, introduced me to Top Notch Salon owner Vicki Hadder, and sat me down at her station. I had sent her a few ombré ideas beforehand so she had somewhat a vision of what I wanted; since I sent her different ombré looks she made sure to be thorough and asked me questions on exactly what I wanted.
After an assessment, Falisha mixed up product to apply to my hair. A couple test strips later, Falisha found the perfect shade (I requested for her not to show me so it would be a surprise in the end). Aside from the beautiful salon interior and Falisha's fun personality and meticulous work, I enjoyed experiencing a full range of Aveda products. My hair was processed with Enlightener (Aveda's Bleach) and Aveda Full Spectrum 0N (ZERO "N") to tone with some Light V/B (this makes the hair shiny and glossy). After drying for a bit and sipping on tea, Falisha led me to (my fave) shampoo room which has a beautifully draped ceiling and soothing vibes, conducive of a very relaxing hair treatment experience. Falisha shampooed with Brilliant Shampoo and finished with Aveda Dry Remedy Moisturizing Treatment Masque, in place of conditioner to seal in all the moisture and make my hair really soft. Okay what?! "Really soft" is an understatement, almost a week later and I still have amazingly lush and soft hair, I truly can't believe it and I'm constantly brushing my fingers through my locks; I want to do this deep conditioning treatment every week!
Styling prep included Pure Abundance Style-Prep sprayed onto my roots for lift (much needed), Brilliant Damage Control Spray to protect from heat, Smooth Infusion Style-Prep for protection from heat and humidity, Phomollient Styling Foam for shine and some body/volume before the blow dry, and Control Force Hairspray for a firm hold on my loose curls that does not flake. I will need all of these products for my summer trip to Asia, yes you read right summer + Asia = crazy insane heat and humidity, not a fabulous environment for hair.
That's the problem I find now and days, that I want to seal my hair style, but my hairspray makes my hair crunchy or hard! This hairspray was MAGIC, smelled nice (like all the other products) and really did hold my hair very well without the flake or hardness.
