{How-To: Chocolate Dipped Rice Krispies Treats}

 {A fun (and yummy) twist on a classic treat...the easy way!}

My friend Ariel wanted to make chocolate-dipped rice krispies treats to give as party favors at her daughter Harper's birthday party.  The initial idea was that we would make rice krispies treats from scratch; but due to a culmination of time constraints and slight laziness, we decided to buy a box of 24 pre-made rice krispies treats. The treats turned out great (and delicious), they even matched our party theme colors of pink and green. We ended up slicing every treat in half so that they would be more bite-friendly...and indeed they were; not a rice krispies treat was left on the serving platter! This is a super easy and fun treat to make, who doesn't like the taste of chocolate, sprinkles, rice krispies and marshmallows?!
Enjoy,

What You Need (for 24 treats)/Time-45min:
-Rice Krispies Treats(Recipe to make 12 treats)/Buy Pre-made Kellogg's Brand
-Your choice of sprinkles or other small candy toppings
-2 12oz Bags of Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
-Microwave-Safe Container(tip:if the container would be too hot to handle after microwaving, then do not use it)
-Spoon or Spatula depending on the size of the container you will be melting the chocolate in
-Baking Parchment Paper

 ***Before starting, make sure all utensils and containers that you will  be working with are dry. The least bit of water will ruin the chocolate during the melting process***
1. Unwrap rice krispies treats and set aside.
Pour half of the bag of chocolate chips into the microwavable container, 6oz. Be sure to spread the chips out evenly in the container.
 2. Place the container into the microwave. Adjust the power setting to low:50% , and microwave for 2.5 minutes.
(If you are unable to set your microwave to a low:50% power setting, heat the chocolate chips at shorter intervals and stir in between).  *More info on melting chocolate

3. When finished, take the container out of the microwave and stir the chocolate until it is completely a smooth consistency.
 4. Take an unwrapped rice krispies treat and press one side of the treat into the melted chocolate. Move the treat around to ensure even application of the chocolate.
5. Lift the rice krispies treat out of the chocolate. If the chocolate is splotchy, then smooth it out with a spoon. Also lightly scrape off the dripping end of the treat with the spoon to avoid a chocolate mess.
6. Place chocolate dipped treat onto the baking parchment paper.
7. Add sprinkles on top of the chocolate immediately following dipping so that the sprinkles may dry in to the chocolate.
 Et Voila! After you are finished, you can choose to either keep the treats at the same size, or slice them in half for a more fun bite-size! We plastic wrapped our bite-sized treats and added them with other goodies into cellophane bags for the kids! The rest we served on a platter for the party guests!
 Just thought I would share a couple snapshots of our other baking project...cupcakes!
