Fashion | LA Fashion Council VIP Luncheon & Presentations

I was so excited to get to spend Wednesday afternoon enjoying delicious food with great company and view amazing fashion during LA Fashion Council's VIP Luncheon & Presentations for Press Week. 10 designers were featured; 2 displays showcased handbags and jewelry while models cycled through their designer's station with various looks from Fall 2014 collections. Scroll down and see each designer's Fall 2014 collection inspiration or brand tidbit. I enjoyed the variety of styles shown; LA street, sophisticated knits, casual chic, elegant, funky, and bold. Explore each designer's sites below!
MOFÉ by Linda Park// “My inspiration for our Fall handbag collection is street chic with comfort and practicality. Our collection was designed for the casually edgy, yet feminine girl who is both sophisticated and young at heart. The juxtaposition of these characteristics is seen in our simple silhouettes that focus on contrast in textures and color-blocking, exuding a subtle yet strong statement of style."
That's Totally Fine by Rose La Grua//“That's Totally Fine 2014 is all about convertibility. With a variety of denim, linen, and plaid, the line seeks to redefine the standard for personal comfort and control. Many of the pieces can be untied, unbottoned, or re-configured to create multiple looks from the same garment. In this way each piece can transition from day to night and week to week to suit the needs of each individual wearer. As always, the mission is to provide an alternative approach to inspired streetwear and functionality.”
Stella Proseyn by Debbie Talanian// “The Fall 2014 collection is highly fabric-driven. I fell in love with a number of textiles from Japan and Italy, and let them play a big role in the look and feel of the season. The overall concept is attainable beauty, everyday luxury."
Linden by Jennifer Lynn// This collection was initially inspired by the artist James Turrell and his explorations of our perception with regards to light and dark. I began by exploring the concept of what our eyes see, but also how we perceive ourselves with regards to levels of comfort and an emotional response to what we wear. This resulted in a collection of layered pieces, with different opacities and textures pieced together, creating sleek fashion forward looks that are well put together as well as extremely comfortable, making the wearer feel chic and completely at ease. This collection includes our signature machine washable fish-leather trimmed leggings, silk shirts and shirt-dresses, and soft knits with subtle but beautiful details. We continue to strive for a low carbon footprint by incorporating luxurious textiles made from recycled materials into the collection."
Colton Dane by Colton Lasater & Charles Christopher// “The Colton Dane Fall/Winter 14-15 collection has a timeless elegance and sophisticated appeal, while possessing a refreshing and contemporary edge for the confident, sensual woman.
Together by Lily Chehrazi & Benedict Barrett// “Our inspiration for F/W 2014 was to make high-tech, active glamwear together with nature to fulfill our modern needs.”
Katharine Kidd// Based in Los Angeles, Kidd melds classic feminine silhouettes with her own brand of contemporary styling and standout prints. Kidd’s sculpted dresses have been  embraced by Hollywood’s fashion upstarts, including Rooney Mara, Kate Beckinsale, Lea Michele, Emmy Rossum and Rachele McAdams. With an unconventional entry into the elite designer playground- she is self-taught and served as an apprentice to a veteran couturier. Kidd brings a fresh voice to fashion, one characterized by strict attention to detail and fit.
Bri Seeley// “The Chrysalis Collection is a metamorphosis into the redefined Bri Seeley brand. It continues to communicate our clear focus is on reviving classic fashion to usher in a new wave of American femininity - with a particular focus on designing for iconic women. The new collection of clothing reinvents numerous best-selling styles from Seeley’s previous collections, but also apply new inspiration to their prior incarnations:  peek-a-boo cutouts, varied hem lengths, and retro shapes with plunging necklines.”
Kristen Dorsey// “My second collection, “the Shokmalli’ collection, explores celestial themes within Chickasaw culture. Throughout the design process, my muse was the sky serpent, a being depicted in carved shell objects by the southeaster ancestors of my of my tribal affiliation the Chickasaw Nation. The sky serpent is a powerful deity who is depicted in shell jewelry artifacts as a snake-like creature with wings. The sky serpent controls the winds, rains, thunder and lightning. In this collection, the sky serpent is visually interpreted through my use of the southeastern wind spiral design, and a color palate of soft blue for the sky and rose gold and yellow for the sun.”
BellenBrand by Alexandria Norman & Katie Kay Mead// BellenBrand’s mission to connect authentically with its clientele is at its heart and they know exactly who she is. Says Norman, “the BellenBrand girl loves hip-hop, but understands jazz. She might be a regular at Soho House or Madeo, but she won’t flinch about hanging with a friend who drives a Corolla...Our client is real, she could be privileged and she definitely know nice things, but she isn’t afraid to hop a fence and get dirty.”
