Amanda N Hammond Skincare Routine - Using Reusable Bamboo Round

Throughout my high school years, I had terrible acne (but who didn’t during those years) that ended up leaving some scarring. The hormonal changes, coupled with my long days sweating from dancing and not properly taking care of my skin was a disastrous combo. I had always been very self-conscious about the scarring as well as hyperpigmentation on the side of my face that has gotten significantly darker the past few years. I’ve tried creams to laser treatments to try to break up the pigment because it’s so dense on the side of my face, but I’m not sure if I’ll be able to lighten the hyperpigmentation to a consistent shade with the rest of my face. The laser treatments did help smooth out my acne scarring and other areas on my skin that had a rough and bumpy texture.

The most important lesson learned from my skincare journey (even though dark spots are hereditary in my family and aging in general), is to always wear sunscreen no matter what. And don’t forget to reapply. And now that I’m aware that blue light exposure can not only negatively affect my eyes but my skin, I use a mineral sunscreen inside to protect my skin. The higher concentration of iron oxide, zinc oxide, or titanium dioxide in a mineral or physical sunscreen is more affective against UV rays and HEV light. It also became very apparent to me that I needed to care more about what I put in my body/what I ingest as it also plays into skin health. I’m guilty of not drinking as much water as I need on a daily basis, so I’ve had to start creating reminders, and am also looking into supplements for added skin support.

My current routine consists of:

And if I opt to do an overnight mask, I won’t apply the hydrating cream or use the illuminating toning mist and instead apply the Good Science Beauty’s Hydrating Face Mask.
