Korean Noodles at Tang 190 in Irvine, CA

Since visiting Seoul a few years ago and having a taste of my first bowl of cold noodles, I’ve been hooked ever since and looking for a restaurant near me that had it on the menu. I went to various noodle houses and some KBBQ places had noodle dishes on their menu, but I had yet to find a similar bowl of Korean cold noodles. I hadn’t realized that these noodles are usually served in the summer, which may be why it was difficult for me to find. While shopping at a Korean market last year, I saw what looked like prepackaged noodles, condiments and sauce packets but I think it was the wrong dish.

I actually dined at Tang 190 in Irvine a few years ago with a friend, where I tried a spicy broth-less buckwheat noodle dish, so not the right dish but I was getting closer. Recently, I happened to look up the restaurant to see what was on their menu and right there on their instagram and menu list was a Korean cold noodle (Mul Naengmyeon 물냉면) dish! Exactly what I’ve been on the hunt for. I went and tried it and it brought me right back to my trip to Seoul. I can’t wait to go back for more, they serve this dish until October. My friend that accompanied me for this trip had the Pork Cutlet which he said was very very good. There’s a variety of other soups, stews and dumpling and galbi dishes that really embody “Korean Comfort Food”. But if you’re looking for something refreshing, I can’t recommend these cold broth noodles enough!
