Korean Tofu Soup - Sundubu at Kaju Soft Tofu Restaurant 가주순두부 - Garden Grove, CA

I’ve been craving lots of noodle and soup dishes lately, one of my biggest cravings has been the Korean tofu soup - sundubu (순두부찌개). Get soft tofu alone in your soup, or with seafood or beef and pick from a variety of flavors and spice levels, then it’s served piping hot, bubbling in a stone pot - a dolsot (돌솥), then you crack an egg into the soup!

I did not like eating tofu growing up, and now I crave it every other week, but had it in over a year or so. To finally satisfied cravings I went to Kaju Soft Tofu Restaurant in Garden Grove with my friend Andrew.

We shared the galbi - grilled beef short rib (갈비) from his galbi + small tofu soup combo and I got the clam tofu soup. Aside from the yummy tofu soup, you also receive a handful of side dishes called banchan (반찬飯饌) which is honestly one of my favorite aspects of Korean dining. I don’t know how I got stuffed so quickly but I brought home the soup which was a whole single portion - so good for leftover lunch, which i heated up in my own Korean stone pot 😋

We joined the waitlist on yelp before heading to the restaurant since it was showing to be a bit of a wait, then it was about a 40 minute drive for us so by the time we arrived at the restaurant our table was ready. I like the convenience of that! Service is great and food is delish of course - I just wish I could bring home the side dishes with me
