Trying Mayfield Restaurant & Market's Supper Club Prix Fixe Menu

Is Mayfield Restaurant & Market’s Supper Club menu worth the $65 per person? In short, 100% yes! This was my first time dining here, I had seen it several times before in passing, so I was so excited to get to finally make it in and for a friend’s birthday celebration. We all started with cocktails, mine being the “Empress’ Potion“ (Scott got the same cocktail twice haha), it has Gin Infused with Butterfly Pea Tea, Fresh Lemon, Orange Blossom Cardamom Honey. The server brings the gin infused butterfly pea tea and pours it in front of you. Such a fun effect while it swirls into the rest of the drink!

Mayfield is “modern Californian cooking with flavors from the Levant region, an area spanning the Middle East, Mediterranean and North Africa. Made to be shared, our food is designed to be experienced and enjoyed together”. Birthday girl had been wanting to try Supper Club, so we were like LET’S DO IT! Although Scott came with us, the cuisine isn’t so much his vibe so it was 3 adults taking part in supper club (but you are charged for however many people there are at the table). So you can’t have half the table doing supper club and the other half not partake. Parties of 7 people or more are required to do this prix fixe menu. We started with the “RIP AND DIP”, which is a lovely tray of the following dips and the most delicious bread to do the dipping.

Baba Ganoush
Smoked eggplant puree (VE,DF,GF)

Hummus
With za'atar and EVOO (VE,GF,DF,NF)

Muhammara
Red pepper and walnut dip (VE,GF,DF)

Date Labneh
Toasted pepitas & chili oil (GF,V)

Spinach Whipped Feta
Dried cranberries, & confit garlic (GF,NF,V)

Next up, we chose 3 small plates, the falafel, charred cabbage and cauliflower shawarma from the below small plates menu. I didn’t have a bite of the falafel, and liked the cauliflowers the most. The cabbage was difficult to cut into, and although the charred test was nice, I think it didn’t work too well for the cabbage’s wet consistency ( perhaps it was not charred enough?)

Summer Snap Peas
Gooseberries, gooseberry vinaigrette, toasted marcona almonds, shaved white chocolate & coconut foam (GF,V)

Falafel
Shishito Peppers,tahini,amba & tzatziki - 4 per order (V,GF,NF)

Fried Eggplant
Date syrup & zhoug (VE,GF,DF,NF)

Heirloom Roasted Carrots
Chermoula, pistachio dukkah & urfa chili oil (DF,V,VE)

Charred Cabbage
Middle eastern chili XO sauce, dried sausage & tahini labneh sauce

Twice Cooked Garnet Sweet Potato
Yuzu kosho & hibiscus honey, preserved lemon tahini & sesame seeds (GF,DF,V)

Cauliflower Shawarma
Tahini & pomegranate molasses (VE,GF,DF,NF)

Next are the Medium Plates and if you are vegan, you get to pick an extra plate from the small plates menu. We selected two medium plates, the burrata and slow braised pork belly. The burrata was stunning on the plate, and the pork belly was tender. After eating from the two plates, I was getting stuffed, and then we realized, oh there’s actually one more course before dessert.

Crudo
Striped bass, citrus & pomegranate, cucumber, sesame seeds & pickled fresno (GF,DF,NF)

Mussels with Apricot Harissa
PEI Mussels with apricot harissa and 61hundred sourdough (GF, NF)

Grilled Prawns
Cilantro, chili & confit garlic prawns (4 to order), tzatziki, lime & harissa oil (GF,NF)

Amba Glazed Grilled Octopus
blistered vine tomatoes, cumin labneh, crispy garbonzo beans & burnt green onion dust (GF, NF)

Burrata
Persimmons, blackberry and white balsamic compote, crispy sage, hawaij brown butter, toasted walnuts & crostini (V)

Beef Tartar
Confited tomatoes, preserved lemon, smoked paprika aioli, beet & taro chips (GF,NF)

Slow Braised Pork Belly
with ras el hanout spiced apple & rhubarb puree (GF,NF,DF)

At this point, I was pretty much ready to tap out. We were all like “wait, what”, when we realized we needed to pick three dishes from Large Plates. We chose the whole grilled branzino, lamb rack and picanha steak. I did get in a few bites of the branzino, which was absolutely delightful! I wish I could have gotten myself to have a bite of the lamb rack and steak, but honestly, I was really too stuffed for more protein.

Lamb Rack
With minted crushed peas, pistachio & sumac rub, fried garbanzo beans & lamb jus (GF,NF)

Whole Grilled Branzino
Red bell pepper & tomato ezme salad, caper raisin vinaigrette (GF, DF, NF)

Za'atar Fried Chicken (4 pieces)
Harissa honey, house ranch and house pickles (NF)

Braised Short Rib
Pomegranate jus, garbanzo beans, creamy polenta & beet, salsify & fennel shaved salad (NF,GF)

Picanha Steak
Grilled Maitake, trumpet & bunashimeji mushrooms, truffle beef jus, salsify puree, tallow potatoes & toasted hazelnuts (GF)

Tomahawk
32 oz grass fed tomahawk steak served with smashed yukons, harissa aioli, beef jus & garlic herb butter (GF,NF) + $95

Can’t finish our dinner without dessert! We got to select three desserts from the menu. There are only three dessert options, so you can do one of each or multiples of a same dessert. I managed to get one bite in of the honey mousse and the chocolate budino - the honey mousse was devoured pretty quickly due to the lightweight texture (hence why there’s not much of it in the photo below lol). Both of the desserts I tasted were delicious.

Chocolate Budino
Orange blossom granita, halva crumble (V, NF)

Sticky Toffee Pudding
Date cake, butterscotch sauce, McConnell's vanilla bean ice cream (V,NF)

Honey Mousse
Lemon curd, gooseberries, honey shards (V, NF)

Overall, tremendously tasty and gorgeously curated meal. I would recommend for a party of 4 with the amount of food that we received. Technically we were given the portion of food for 4 people since Scott was sitting at his table (but since he wasn’t really partaking in the meal, then the remaining three of us were left with “his portion”). I feel there’s a variety of dishes in each course to choose from, and in comparison to if Scott and I were to eat a non AYCE (all you can eat) Korean BBQ restaurant; we’re typically spending roughly $85 for the both of us (we would get 3 plates of meat about the same amount of protein as Mayfield’s large plates alongside the banchan “side dishes” and soup). So for about $22 per person, Mayfield is providing a lot of value with the 5 courses. We always love a family style moment because we all love to try different dishes. I’m excited to come back, I really enjoyed the vibes, service and food and drinks!
