London UK Travel Recap Days 10-12 - Last Days of Trip

I finally got together the video for the last leg of our November 2021 England trip where we spent the last couple of days in London. Scott and I had to make sure to go get our Fit to Fly test done since it was a requirement to fly back home to the U.S., and we also got to see friends from home whilst in London. I hadn't seen them since pre-Covid (LITERALLY right before covid-19 lockdowns, during their 2020 NYE party actually), so it was a blast and very heart warming getting to catch up, and in another country!

Day 10

We actually had a "Fit to Fly" Lateral Flow Antigen Test, not a PCR test. We received results through a certificate within 30 minutes (the certificate was to be showed to the airline the day we were leaving). After the test, we caught the underground to Chinatown because we were going to be meeting our friends the Curtis family. But before that, we stopped into Pret a Manger for a coffee and croissant. Then we met with our friends at the Glassblower Pub for drinks and lunch.

Afterwards, Scott and I headed to the Shard so we could go up to The View from the Shard. We took in views of London from the 68th floor and their open-air sky deck (which we experienced snowfall while we were up there). We got to enjoy cocktails which were included in our ticket package.

For dinner, we lucked out with not having a reservation and being able to get seated immediately at Happy Lamb Hot Pot in Holborn (down the street from our hotel). The hot pot meal, although spicy, really hit the spot, especially having run around most of the day.

Day 11

I actually spent most of the day in bed, I think the hot pot meal actually had me under the weather. I didn’t get sick but I just felt not well enough to be exploring around. And it just so worked out that Scott wanted to go to a soccer game, so he went to do that most the day while I rested. When he got back, we both walked to Covent Garden to take a look at the Christmas tree and lights again. Then we decided where to go have dinner - at Nando’s. Called it a fairly early night so that we could ensure everything was packed.

Day 12

Day twelve, our last day we took the train back to Heathrow airport, then had lunch. And of course, pre-flight champagne on Virgin Atlantic - Premium Economy to kick off our journey home!
